I am finally going to give you a project for the dozens of toilet paper rolls you've acquired in your
Art Box. This project requires just a few items and is easy to adapt to your child's age and skill level.
MaterialsToilet Paper Roll
Ribbon or Yarn
Photos (if desired)
Drawing Paper
Scrap Paper (I used leftover wrapping paper)
Cardboard (use leftovers from cereal boxes, packaging, boxes, etc.)
Hole punch
Directions1. Take the toilet paper roll and cut diagonally so you end up with a roll that looks like this:

2. Cut shapes out of your photos or paper. Ask your child to draw pictures on the cut out scrap paper. Try out a theme, like a family mobile with a picture of a different family member on each, a neighborhood mobile with drawings of different landmarks, a garden mobile, an endangered species mobile, etc.). I did a Valentine's Day mobile with hearts and photos of my family.
3. Glue the pictures onto cardboard cut outs so the pictures are reinforced. Punch holes at the top of each drawing.
4. Punch holes along the curved part of the toilet paper roll (punch enough holes for each drawing). Thread ribbon or yarn through the drawings and the toilet paper roll so it hangs at the desired length.
5. Punch two holes at the top of the toilet paper roll and thread a piece of yarn or ribbon through it for hanging.
4. Admire your creation and then hang it up or send it to a loved one!
