May enjoy learning to cut with safety scissors
A Fine Motor milestone for the 2-2.5 years age range.
TIP: As with learning to manipulate any object, it is important that you demonstrate appropriate use and then assist your child to use it properly. Learning to hold scissors correctly from the start will save you from difficult transitions later when another pattern is ingrained. Since his motor skills are still developing, it is important that he be supervised whenever he is using safety scissors. If your child is unable to cut with safety scissors by 30 months, you should discuss this with your pediatrician.
Concerned that your child hasn't met this milestone yet?
