Graham, I love your thoughts in this post. I think the central problem with the Ed in '08 report is its mistaken assumption about the nature of human flourishing. The report assumes that the highest human good is money, or at least the security, health, and prosperity that comes from money. Thus, it sees marketable skills as the goal of education. But, as Plato pointed out, the good life both individually and socially must be about something far greater than money.
