Average Review

It may seem simple, but playing soft music can be an "activity" for your child because it engages his senses and can soothe him emotionally.

Feel free to choose music that you like so that you can enjoy it together!

More than your regular old lullabies

We've gotten some great lullaby CDs from people, and we've used them to good effect, but I've been pretty happy to have found in the last few days that he seems to respond to pretty much any music that we play. When he's at his most stressed (every night for a couple hours) some decently vigourous mild hip hop (eg Digable Planets, Tribe Called Quest) has worked very well. Even some more dance stuff like GirlTalk has worked too.

And it can be interesting on the more classical side too, I've tried Phillip Glass, and Kronos Quartet as well, and Bach's Cello Suites by Pablo Cassals are beautiful.

Mini Music Lover

My little man loves music! I created a playlist just for him on my iPod that I play during feeding and play time or to settle him down when he is being cranky. But, I've found that he also reacts well to other playlists that aren't particularily baby-centric. Sometimes I play more upbeat songs and sing and dance around with him for a little mommy-baby bonding play time.

On a recent visit his nana even commented "Wow, he really likes music!" :)
